craft night.

last night i had some of my sweet friends over for a little impromptu craft night.

we baked, we made wreaths, we watched the singing bee. we had a ball.

my sweet friend and resident photographer, libby came after baby-sitting and took some pictures for us.

(notice loretta, the mixer, looking super fine doing her thing back there in the background)

this is my favorite icing maker and bestest of friends laura. cant believe she is getting married so soon! we have had many, many, MANY wonderful adventures together.

so glad we had crushes on two brothers back in the day and became friends. love you.

see, she is a great icer. must have been all those years at puffy muffin.

and here is our lovely craft. a ribbon wreath.

and here we are with our lovely wreaths. thanks lib for the pictures. your the best.

happy tuesday!

verse for today:
the Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Zeph. 3:17

sarah richardson design.

last year i baby-sat for the cutest little one year old. his mom had great style and it was always a treat to get to hang out with him. we would take walks. play putt-putt. watch the predators. he loved hockey. yes he was one. he was the best baby ever.

his mom recorded this show on hgtv and shared it with me one day and i was hooked. every time i put him down to sleep i would flip through the dvr and watch sarah's house.

it was a canadian hgtv show that you could watch on directTV and she so kindly recorded it for me.

while sarah richardson may not be a southern designer, the canadian designer definitely had a knack for southern style.

check out some of her work on her website here. or just scroll on down and take a peek at some of my favorites.

dear sarah richardson,

i love how you mix classic with contemporary, your use of color, beautiful textures and brilliant mixture of patterns.

and i think you are secretly from the south. just like my other favorite canadian, anne shirley.

the encyclopedia of sewing.

people always ask me about sewing and tell me they want to learn.

believe it or not before i went to college to study textiles and apparel i could sew a straight line but that was about it.

but after many, many classes and hours upon hours stuck behind a sewing machine in the clothing lab i finally got a good grasp on the whole thing.

i mean they gave me a diploma. so i think i can call my self a sewer now.

but i am still learning everyday.

last year for christmas i got this book and it basically condenses down what i learned over the past four years into a simple version. i highly recommend it if you want to learn more about sewing or if you are a self-taught sewer and just want to go back for some refresher terms.

learning about your fabrics is key. and this book breaks down and defines the basic textiles that you might be using.

i just love everything about textiles. its fascinating to me.

so thanks again martha for teaching us.

i have been waiting for the fabric store to open so i can go pick out some yummy fabrics for a client. did i tell you i love my job?

much love,
